Dammam Comprehensive Transportation Study

Dammam Municipality has appointed Alrabiah & Partners Co. to carry out a comprehensive transportation study of the Dammam Metropolitan Area comprising Dammam, Dhahran, Al-Khobar, Qatif and Ras Tanura with an aim to improve the transportation of individuals and goods in and around Dammam.

The project comprises data collection by conducting source destination surveys, stated preference surveys, traffic counts & classification resulting in a database which will be fully integrated into a GIS model of the region. The next stage involves the analysis of data collected for the development of Traffic Analysis Zones, Traffic Networks, and Travel Models; their analysis, rectification and automation. Finally, the developed models will be tested and an appraisal of the available alternatives will be performed culminating in the development of a preferred transportation system for the region.

Rehabilitation of Seawater Distribution Structures

SADAF appointed ARP & Associates to carry out investigation, assessment, recommendations and preparation of contract documents for remedial works on certain seawater structures inside the plant.

The structures comprised pump basins, dividing walls and supporting slabs. The work involved visual inspection, sampling and testing to determine the cause and extent of deterioration.

In connection with the contract documents, ARP & Associates prepared the complete tender package, including drawings, specifications, scope of work and bill of quantities. The work also involved extensive design of temporary supports and cofferdams. ARP & Associates also performed the site supervision of the remedial works carried out to the structures.

Design of New College of Medicine - 3 Buildings

King Faisal University appointed Alrabiah & Partners Co. to provide their professional design services for the College of Medicine at King Faisal University at Al-Ahssa.

The project consists of three buildings, connected to each other by a covered and air-conditioned elevated bridge corridor. Two buildings, one for male and female students respectively, accommodate classrooms and offices were in the main building hosts laboratories, dissection rooms, a number of auditoriums and other services utilised by both male and female students.

Evaluation of Delays and Penalties – Contract Administration

Alrabiah & Partners Co. were appointed for assisting in the evaluation of claims and represented the Client in arbitration in order to conclude the matters in dispute.  The main aim was to evaluate the penalties on the delays occurred during the construction of a huge project here in KSA.

Appraisal of Billet Bay Crane Gantry and Adjacent Structures

ARP & Associates were appointed to investigate the existing billet bay crane gantry, during the unscheduled shutdown period. The elements inspected were columns, beams supporting crane rails, rail and exposed foundation.

The work involved visual inspection, dynamic assessment of the beams supporting the rails, die penetration testing of certain welds and static alignment survey. Calculations were also carried out to assess the adequacy of the structure according to the DIN standards. Following the investigation we prepared a report giving recommendations on how to prolong the life of the structure.

Pavement Maintenance Management Systems in Saudi ARAMCO

The activities for this engineering pavement evaluation of ARAMCO facilities included review PMMS data collection procedures, manuals and guidelines provided by ARAMCO, perform all PMMS (Pavement Maintenance Management System), data collection, engineering associated work for the roads & areas, PMMS (Pavement Maintenance Management System) Distress Survey data collection work for the Facility Type Road & Areas Scope of work.

Also provide engineering assistance in the form of either consultation or manpower supply to assist Roads Division engineers in the Asphalt Materials Specifications, Traffic Engineering, Design Packages Review, and Evaluation of New Paving Techniques. In addition the works also involved in the quality control measures that include Field testing, Soil testing, Aggregates testing, Asphalt testing, Slurry Seal and Asphalt Super pave testing.

Design & Supervision for Upgrading Sewage System in Jubail Commercial Port

Alrabiah & Partners Co. were appointed to carry out the study, design and supervision of a comprehensive Sewage system in the Jubail Commercial Port. The works involved investigation of the existing facilities, prepare design for upgradation and renovation of the existing sewage system including preparation of tender documents, supervision of the execution of the upgradation works by the Contractor and supervision during the maintenance period also.

Guideline Specifications/Drawings Update and Automation

Alrabiah & Partners Co. have been appointed by the Directorate General of the Royal Commission for updating the existing specifications, engineering manuals, drawings and guideline details according to the current national and international standards in the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Material Engineering. This project also involves the automation of the existing documents with a view to make them more user-friendly.

Site Supervision for Al Fatha Sports Complex - Al Hassa

Alrabiah & Partners Co. provided the site supervision services during the construction of a new sports complex in Al-Hassa.

The various components of the project were youth hostel, sports hall, club house, gymnasium, swimming pool, football field with stadium and VIP enclosures, tennis courts, centralised air conditioning system, irrigations system, electrical sub-station, high mast flood lighting, ancillary building, asphalt roads, plumbing and sewerage system. Activities included quantity surveying, inspection and supervision.

Investigation and Rehabilitation of  King Fahd Naval Base

The Royal Saudi Navy appointed Alrabiah & Partners Co. to carry out the investigation, assessment, recommendations, and detailed design check, under water survey, structural analysis, rehabilitation design, and tender documents for the restoration of the Ship Repair Facilities (SRF) at KFNB in Jeddah.

The Scope of Works involved visual inspection above and under water, site sampling & testing, assessment of & recommendations for the rehabilitation works. Apart from concrete elements (piles, pile caps, beams, pre-stressed deck slabs, etc.), all utilities and M & E installations were included in the scope, as was the structural analysis of the piers and wharves, the design check for the Synchro Ship Lift.. The job involved experts from our Associate Company, COWI (Denmark) and Synchro Lift (USA).

Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures in Eight Desalination Plants

Alrabiah & Partners Co. were appointed for the investigation and assessment of reinforced concrete structures in eight SWCC Desalination Plants lying on the western seaboard of Saudi Arabia along the shores of the Red Sea at Al-Birk, Al-Wajh, Rabigh, Ummluj, Dhuba, Haql, Shuqaiq and Jeddah (Phases 2, 3 and 4).

Alrabiah & Partners Co. have also prepared the Detailed Rehabilitation Design and Tender Documents for all the above mentioned Plants and have been appointed to carry out the Site Supervision of the rehabilitation works.

GOSI appointed ARP & Associates to carry out detailed investigation, condition assessment and recommendations for their first commercial building in Dammam.

The structure is a twelve storey building with basement, ground, mezzanine, service, restaurant floor and typical eight floors. It comprised typical columns, solid slabs at ground, mezzanine, service and restaurant floor, and waffle slabs. The foundation structure comprised mat foundation.

The work involved detailed visual inspection, sampling and testing to determine the cause and extent of deterioration and also the site supervision of the remedial works carried out to the structures.

Development of Al-Hofuf City Historical Centre

Alrabiah & Partners Co. has been appointed for the study, rehabilitation and development of Al-Hofuf city with an aim to develop it as a prominent tourist centre. The study intends to improve the infrastructure for tourists and its inhabitants, in accordance with the international standards pertaining to the restoration of historical city centres, giving prominence to the salient features of the city’s heritage and culture and protecting heritage sites and structures.

The development will also encourage realtors in the area to improve their properties and attract investment, thereby creating employment opportunities, and also promote the tourism industry and various other economical and cultural activities in the region.

Consultancy Services for Corrosion Control

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu appointed Alrabiah & Partners Co. to carry out engineering and consultancy services for the corrosion management of all Royal Commission Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah structures, systems and facilities. This work includes the evaluation of structures, testing and the preparation of complete tender packages for bidding purposes, as well as consultancy services for specialised studies and designs.

The structures assessed during the study were Electrical substations, Water Tanks, Pump houses, Bridges, Culverts, Industrial College and Jetty.

New Sales Office & Showroom in Riyadh

GRUNDFOS appointed ARP & Associates to do the comprehensive design of the new showroom to be built in Riyadh.

The building comprised of showroom and offices with training facilities. The work involved development of the client's conceptual design to working drawings, planning issues, tender and project management of the construction phase. ARP was also appointed by Grundfos to perform the supervision for the remedial works executed.
